Checklist
Parents are asked to check
- that their child has completed all homework given by the teacher – written work, oral work and reading.
- that their child’s Homework Journal has been signed.
- that their child has all he needs for the school day – lunch, pencils, copies etc.
Recommended Time Allocation
Junior and Senior Infants:Â Â Â Â No formal homework
First and Second Class:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 30 Minutes
Third and Fourth Class:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 45 Minutes
Fifth and Sixth Class:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 1 HourÂ
The recommended times are guidelines. If you are unsure about any aspect of the homework routine or if your child regularly exceeds the recommended times and is making a genuine effort, you are welcome to make an appointment to discuss the matter with the class teacher.
Incomplete Homework
An explanation, written or oral, should be presented if a child’s homework has not been completed.
Homework Club
Homework Club is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2.30-3.30p.m. and is supervised by a teacher. Sudents receive all the help and support they require in addition to being encouraged to work independently. We have THREE clubs in operation, one for juniors, middles and seniors with a total membership of 54 students.
